Epic considering sweeping changes to Gears 2 - planning to introduce "experience levels"
The rubbish old TrueSkill ranking system that Microsoft has been using to match people up online could soon be ditched from Gears 2, with developer Epic planning a switch to to a system that takes into account a player's experience rather than their TrueSkill rank.
So you'll end up playing with people of an extremely similar skill level, hopefully. I don't get, understand, like and can barely even tolerate looking at screenshots of Gears 2, so here's Epic's Rod Fergusson explaining how the new system could work...
"What if, instead of skill rank, we instead showed your experience level. You would gain experience through your individual performance in Public multiplayer matches - the higher your score at the end, the more experience you acquire."
Sounds great, Rob. Whetever keeps the teenagers happy, playing Gears of War 2 and therefore off the streets so I can go to the chip shop late at night without fear.
