The obligatory update about how well Gears of War 2 sold last week
Microsoft's just sent out a bordering-on-smug press release about how many copies of Gears 2 it sold around the world over the weekend.
It sold two million copies of Gears 2 around the world over the weekend. That's a lot of games, and the reason it topped the UK chart. It also generated a lot of what is technically known as "network traffic," with over 1.5 million people playing the game on Xbox Live at the end of last week, wasting a total of 15 million hours, according to Microsoft's server stats.
Xbox 360 owner Shiam Jai, who was apparently the first person in the UK to buy the game, said "I've been waiting two years for this moment and now I've finally got my hands on it. It's going to be the greatest game of all time, made even better by being able to play it on the greatest console of all time."
Plus, of course, Lucy Pinder no doubt spent most of Saturday night struggling through level three on Hardcore.
