Square's The Last Remnant DOUBLES weekly Xbox 360 hardware sales in Japan

last-remnant-boosts-hardware-sales.jpgIn the olden days, doubling Xbox 360 sales in Japan used to mean going from 1,024 a week to 1,745 a week and using a bit of statistical rounding up and hoping no one notices. But not in Microsoft's New Golden Era of Japanese successes!

Last week, thanks to incomprehensibly high levels of excitement surrounding Square's average-at-best RPG The Last Remnant, Microsoft managed to sell 15,474 consoles in Japan - up from the previous week's 7,983, making it yet another great seven days for Microsoft Japan's spreadsheet compilers.

Sadly, this was a bit less than PlayStation3 shifted, with Sony somehow managing to convince 17,436 poor, lost, confused and dare we say STUPID souls that buying a Blu-ray player without any good games is a sound investment idea in these troubled financial times.

Wii was miles ahead of them both as ever and even PSP did very well too, which is the real puzzling mystery here. What do people do with all these PSPs once they've bought them? Mine's been in a drawer with Lumines still in its slot for the last 26 months.
