Judge rules that "something called Grand Theft Auto" motivated and educated pikey sex attacker

ryan-chinnery-pose-of-guilt.jpgHere's a pretty shameful bit of scandal to ease you into Friday. Nasty little 19-year-old Ryan Chinnery was found guilty of driving around in his car and attacking women in Ashford, Kent, and everyone involved in the case - apart from Ryan himself - thinks it's because he played a lot of Grand Theft Auto.

The prosecutor pretty much entirely blamed GTA for Chinnery's actions, saying that GTA "Is a very well-known and well-used video game," adding that "it may go some way to explaining his attitude towards women."

The judge, in his summing up, told the court that "I know part of this case referred to something called Grand Theft Auto. While it appears the defendant does not accept it influenced his conduct on that particular evening, it could not have helped him, I would have thought, in all the circumstances of the case."

So the judge, although he hasn't really heard of the "something" that is GTA, seems to believe that it's to blame anyway.

The moral of this story is that all youths who wear baseball caps at angles and poke their fingers toward webcams for MySpace pictures ought to be put in jail anyway, just to be on the safe side.
