Gears of War 2 is broken - Epic trying to fix the online matchmaking stuff

In a needlessly-wordy-given-its-target-readership post on the game's official forum, Epic man Rod Fergusson confesses to what Gears 2 players have known for some time - the online matchmaking system is rather poor. How such an important game managed to launch with a duff online tool that often leaves players waiting more than two minutes for a match is rather puzzling.

Here is a screenshot which visually summarises the current situation. The man on the left is a developer of Gears 2, as is the man on the right. The alien in the middle is the server. The two men are trying to fix the server with chain saws.

Rod also attempts to turn this MEDIA SHITSTORM into a positive, releasing some stats about GoW2 - most notably that nearly one million in-game screenshots have been uploaded to GearsofWar.com by players. JOKE: While they're waiting for matches to load.
