JAPAN NEWS: Xbox 360 strings out success for a whole month

xbox-360-outsells-ps3-in-japan-september-2008.jpgWe didn't dare believe. We didn't dare believe that Xbox 360 could outsell PS3 in Japan at all. Then it happened. Then it did it again. Then it DID IT AGAIN the very next week. It is becoming a trend.

Which means that, for the month of September, Xbox 360 sold 53,547 consoles in Japan, compared to 33,071 PlayStation3s. That is a WIN WIN scenario. Let's just gloss over how many units Wii, DS and PSP sold out there last month, as I'd be here all day typing in numbers. I'll do those figures again in a bullet-pointed list for clearer impact...

JAPANESE HARDWARE SALES FOR SEPTEMBER:

- X360: 53,547
- PS3: 33,071
- WII, DS and PSP: Something something zero five something one

Obviously this massive rise came about due to gigantic price cuts in Japan and the arrival of an exclusive RPG delivered thanks to Microsoft's lining of developer pockets, but still. A win is a win. Any Chelsea supporters out there will tell you it still feels just as good even if it's been bought.
