XBLA smash Braid makes developer vastly rich - 55,000 copies already sold

braid-game-developer-riches-sales-55000.jpgThe retro-styled but modern-playing XBLA title Braid has been setting people's hearts on fire with its cute design and original play - and it's also turned its creator into a very wealthy man.

Braid maker Jonathon Blow, who's pretty much all over the internet at the moment, reckons he's sold around 55,000 copies of Braid through Xbox Live so far - and at 1200 MS Points (AKA £10.20) per copy that's a sizeable war chest he's accumulated.

That is, in fact, £561,000 for a game Jonathan financed himself. So even after Microsoft has taken its cut, we'd still expect to see Mr Blow drinking lattes in a selection of Ferrari dealerships over the coming weeks.

Perhaps we will spend the afternoon investigating Microsoft XNA development tools.
