Rock Revolution - another rhythm game with guitars and drums, hurrah!

rockrev.jpgFANTASTIC NEWS, EVERYBODY! Soon you lucky Xbox gamers will be able to (get this!) play a rhythm game using musical instrument controllers!

I know!

To be fair, Konami do have a long and distinguished rhythm game pedigree and they are surely eager to bloody the noses of upstarts like Rock Band or Guitar Hero. Still, you have to wonder if anyone has room in their living room for a third set of plastic guitars and drums.

Konami's Rock Revolution will feature 40 tracks for use in single or multi-player modes and seems to feature a fairly standard note and rhythm-matching dynamic.

Interestingly, the game will also allow 'freeform' play to compose your own tracks. It'll be interesting to see if they pull this off - Guitar Hero: World Tour is going to feature a similar 'recording studio' but Rock Band 2's developers recently announced they had ditched the idea as they hadn't found a playable implementation.

The game is slated for a European release at the start of next year.
