Incremental annual update announced: PES 2009

Guess what? They're only making a Pro Evo 2009! Expect the usual round of developer interviews in which they say the game is "totally different" and a "big change" only for it to actually come out and be slightly worse than last year's version. And for the online features to not work very well. Then to get patched. And still not work.

Also, expect to NEVER EVER EVER see the game being played from the insane angles featured in the promotional images.

Or maybe not. Are we being overly cynical? Do you lot still get excited about paying another £40 for the same bloody game every bloody year? Am I just old and out of touch with you ASBO-touting kids? Is wasting hard-earned money seen as "cool" and some sort of mark of "respect"?

Not me. The series peaked with PES 4 and has been going downhill ever since. I reckon there'll be a proper next-gen one released in about 2012.
