Two new Xbox Originals coming - Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and Metal Arms

splinter-cell-chaos-theory-xbox-originals.jpgHooray! Splinter Cell: CT is coming to Xbox Originals this week. It's easily the pinnacle of the Splinter Cell series, with its tightened ultra-tight stealth action and totally bizarre-yet-rocking soundtrack by the un-pigeonhole-able Amon Tobin.

It was a good game, OK? Hard, often a bit too dark to see what's happening - and god knows what it'll look like scaled up to HD resolutions - but very nice for a Splinter Cell. Certainly better than the last 360 one, at least.

Metal Arms... well, that was kind of OK. Although, to be honest, I'm just making that up. I have no recollection of it at all. It's probably a robot shooting game. Sounds like one. They're always a bit rubbish. Oh yes, just looked at some screenshots. It's got robots and guns in. Not for 1200 of my MS Points.

But Splinter Cell is a "yes," perhaps even a "definitely" when it arrives on Monday April 21.

Nonono, Metal Arms looks a bit shit, but it's actually really good. In fact it's one of my favourite games of what we've now got to call the last generation. Not that my opinion counts for anything but it is. Things that are great about it: Weapons that are actually fun. Level them up, get more powerful, blah, but they're great. In particular the one that shoots explosive bolts into enemies that you can detonate at your leisure.
Also, the enemies don't just follow a script, they always act slightly differently every time you die/restart. And there's plenty of other stuff thats ace but it's been a few years since I've played it and I forget. Oh, and it's quite funny too.
Anyway, the gist is that Metal Arms is a genuine forgotten classic. A robot shooting game that's actually really good. And the multiplayer's a laugh too.

No, really. Really really.
