Ninja Gaiden II passed by BBFC - rated 18 for "strong, bloody violence"
No surprise there, then. Having played several chapters of the gory slice 'n' dice, I can confirm that the violence therein is strong, and it is also bloody. Stick the word "excellent" on the end of that sentence and you've got a fairly accurate description of the game, too.
Interesting to note that the game was passed without any cuts being made - perhaps the slightly fantastical nature of the game gave it the edge over, say, Manhunt 2. The latter's brutality admittedly feels more grimly realistic compared to the OTT leaping and limb-lopping of Gaiden.
It marks a first for the series - previous BBFC-rated entries Black (on the Xbox) and Sigma (on the PS3) were both awarded 15 certificates, while the original fell under the watchful eye of PEGI, who rated it 16+.
Think that Kill Bill scene writ large, repeated with different enemies and played on fast-forward, and you've got a close approximation of what your typical Gaiden stage is like. Oh, and don't forget to throw in sodding huge spider bosses.
It's out on the 6th of June over here, which isn't far away at all. Get pre-ordering, fight fans.
