Microsoft blame poor February sales on limited stock
After the January sales figures saw the PS3 outsell the Xbox 360, Microsoft admit they expect to again trail in February due to "supply constraints."
Exact figures aren't yet available, but they're not expected to be too dissimilar to the 39,000 fewer Xbox 360 consoles that were sold in North America during January when compared to the PS3.
However, it seems that Microsoft have recently ramped up production with group product manager Aaron Greenberg stating that "by April, we will be in a very healthy inventory situation." Just in time for the release of Grand Theft Auto IV which will no doubt send sales figures through the roof.
Not that Greenberg sees any chance of the PS3 rapidly closing in on the Xbox 360 in terms of sales stating that "we still think we have a great value, that we have significantly better value than Sony. Every month we've actually been in stock we've outsold them by a 2 to 1 margin."
Lets be honest, if there were two months during the year you'd be happy to lose in, it would be the first two. Real sales don't start in earnest until the last few months of the year, and if production stays high enough, the Xbox 360 should easily beat the PS3 into submission come the end of the year.

lets be honest....the supply shortage is simply PR spin and a lame excuse....any American can tell you there is absolutely NO supply shortage

theres absolutely no supply shortage. I travel alot and havent ever seen any store anywhere that has a ps3 and no xbox sitting right beside it. plus if they were really selling that quick then why in the world did they cut back the price.

Sounds like a broken record really...same thing they said in January...kinda wierd tho...you would think they would've solved all the supposed supply problems...

I call bs on the whole thing and your such a fanboy its not even funny. I have been reading your post every now and again and have come to realize you say things bad about the ps3 so your website will get hits and comments. What you fail to realize is talking junk on the PS3 is old news and doesnt make sence anymore. The fact is theres alot of people that will be picking up the ps3 this year and it will come full circle if you didnt notice PS3 does ok world wide and only strugles here in the states for now at least. With so many people in america with ps2's its only a matter of time before they start picking up the ps3 and that time most anazlist will tell you is this year.

Spencer: Just to point out, I actually regularly contribute to our sister blog pspsps.tv where I've regularly praised both Sony and the PS3 fairly frequently over the last few months.

PS3s are selling more because more people want them rather than the 360. EVERY single electronics store in Washington D.C. area are overstocked on 360s. PS3s are just selling better right now.
Why shouldn't they, the fanbase is larger and Bluray beat out HD-DVD while MS cries HD downloads is the next new thing... yea maybe in another 10 years.

"Lets be honest, if there were two months during the year you'd be happy to lose in, it would be the first two. Real sales don't start in earnest until the last few months of the year..."
Oh really? Then what does this say for the PS3 later this year? Since real sales don't start until the last few months of the year...
Looks to be a good year for Sony.

Had this news been the other way around, the internet would have been full of articles talking about how the 360 was killing the PS3 and how Sony should be giving up on it's console. Since it's not, everyone is trying to be hush hush. Now for the 2nd time in a row Microsoft is blaming shortages?? I think people are finally getting tired of the hardware failures which are stopping them from playing some of the greatest games. It's sad that it's taking 3-4 repairs until 360 owners are finally deciding to give up. The PS3 is a great console with great features. One of it's features is the ability to NOT FAIL! I love playing games not having to worry in the back of my mind as to whether or not my console is going to die on me.
At this rate it looks like Microsoft is going to continue to have 360 shortages for the rest of the year.

hey ppl i mite be wrong here but from what u guys are writing it sounds like some of you actually take it personally when someone digs at one console over another. like they just insulted your family or something. i hav noticed this alot with xbox 360 ''fanboys'' (lmao at that) and ps3 ''fanboys'' (agen lmao lol). stop gettin so petty becus no1 cares. i like to keep up2 date on news and stuff i admit, but i dont go round having slanging matches over a couple of computer chips lol. every forum u go into its like seeing romeo and juliet with two families hating each other lol. i actually do laugh out loud sometimes when i read these. in a way its kind of pathetic. you cant have a decent conversation with other gamers since the Msoft and sony started a rivalry. the sad fact is in other areas these companies actually work very closely together when making other products - i imagine if they ever get the time to read these forums (which im guessing they do so they can c how there products r doing) then they must think its halerious how everyone bitches at each other over a games console.
