Another graph PS3 is at the bottom of - controller battery life
There's nothing we like more than a good graph. Actually, there is - a good graph that PS3 is at the bottom of.
Today's graph PS3 is as the bottom of is this one - GamePro's one illustrating controller battery life. Xbox 360's lasts for ages, Wii's a bit less, PS3's for about three minutes if you keep rubbing it and don't press any buttons.

Well, a bit more than three minutes - PS3's controller lasted for 18 hours and 41 minutes in GP's tests, compared with the Wii's 36 hours and 43 minutes, while Xbox 360's controller bravely stayed FULLY OPERATIONAL for an extremely efficient 56 hours and 56 minutes. Which is practically 57 hours.
This is clearly seriously important on a global level. The more people play PS3, the more electricity gets used and the quicker the ice caps melt and we all die. Surely no one can justify buying a PS3 in the face of such damning evidence?

I'm more interested in a hardware failure rate chart. Anyone want to take bets on the likelihood of that being released?

yeah, at least the ps3 doesnt suck down disposable batteries. have fun buying new ones every month, and throwing the old ones into a landfill.

The ps3 batterys are rechargable and internal so you don't have to buy another battery and then thow it away. The creation and disposal of batterys is actually quite damaging to the environment. Not to mention the fact that every 360 with red rings needs to be disposed of and another one needs to be made.
I'm just happy that my logic exceeds that of the author of this article. I mean seriously this guy has tunnel vision can only see a certain part of the issue but fails to see the big picture. How embarrasing might I suggest that you kill yourself.

That may be the case but I don't have to buy double AA batteries for my ps3. Sony cared enough put the batter on the inside.

Wow, this site as always is full of mis-information. The writer doesn't mention the GamePro's test used PS3 controller with worn in rechargable batteries possibly 1 year old (think cell phone batteries), with Xbox 360 and Wii mote using brand new disposable Duracell batteries.
If they want to do a fair test they should use brand new rechargable batteries for PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii mote.
And Xboxer leading the stupid pack again, leaving out the important information, stupid xbots.

it's really weired that all the comments but one are from ps3 fanboys and this is an xbox site...this proves that xbox owners are enjoying playing games while ps3 owners are still waiting for their battery to recharge to play crappy games.

I am almost 40 and have been playing games all my life. No allegiances, bias, or anything. Had all the systems at some point growing up. I just like a good video game and they are only getting better (and worse in some cases). I am one of those "poor ps3 fanboys". Not really, I have both systems. Fortunately, I am at a point that I can afford it. I bought a 360 six months after release and a ps3 about 6-7 months after release as well. ps3 was a barren wasteland for a while and man did I have fun with Bioshock (even though I'm not a big FPS guy which is why I didn't have much fun with my 360, though I am waiting for Fable2). Great story, and terrific balance of gameplay. At this point, however, there are some kick-a$% titles on ps3 (especially Uncharted) and I am sick of getting my f@&$ing 360 replaced (I'm on my third one in less than three years and really enjoy waiting for the PO to deliver the new one while I can't finish a game I was really into, yeah, so what, I can get it replaced for free but who cares, why am I without it to begin with, why didn't it work?). It now collects dust as more title are dual-platform and I never had to return my ps3, which has worked from day 1. I pre-ordered DMC4 the other day and got the ps3 version because at least I'm convinced I have a better chance of finishing without having my machine die. Let's see a graph of failure rates and someone blogging about that. I don't know whats worse, the fact that MS put that piece of c#$p out or that I bought into it. Everyone laughed at the ps3 as being an expensive paperweight but the longer I go now, it seems the 360 is an expensive, broken paperweight as well (but thank god, at least its loud). Well, I bought one so I suppose they got some cash!?!

OK YOU FORGOT TO MENTION THAT THE 360 NEEDS TO BE UPGRADED TO BE WIRELESS THAT LONG PS3 AND WII OUT OF THE BOX
Posted by: MORK | February 2, 2008 7:31 AM
LMAO the PS3s battery last longer.....because that POS system has no game on it lol
Posted by: jizzle | February 2, 2008 7:35 AM
This test is bogus. No one has a 360 that lasted 57 hours let alone a controller. Time to get back to playing burnout on ps3 because its superior in every department to 360 version though turok looks better on 360, you guys can knock yourselves out playing that piece of crap.

Who cares about battery life when the battery is rechargeable? the answer is the 360 and that is because you need to buy batteries to let it works remotely.
I would be more interested to see a hardware failure rate chart!!!!!!!!
Microsoft is sinking slowly not because of the 360 problems only but also because of their operating system Vista which turns to be an OPERATED SYSTEM and not an OPERATING SYSTEM

yeah but ps3 come with rechargeable batteries where as with xbox you have to buy them as a seperate part lol

...that maybe but not as much energy as wasted fixing and manufacturing replacement parts for faulty dead xboxs.....HAHAHAHHAHAAA!
Posted by: caleb | February 4, 2008 8:06 PM
no probs with my battery time, but if you say its a prob, ill believe you. but dont be sayin that it uses more electricity, cause the fans on the 360 more than make up for any extra electricity, have you heard those things!!
Posted by: jake | February 5, 2008 2:33 AM
The 360's great. It generates so much heat and noise when it's running that it keeps my flat warm and drowns out whatever shit my missus is watching on the telly. Win win wouldn't you agree?
My PS3 on the other hand gathers dust. Anyone want it? It gets played less than the Wii does.
Or the PSP.
