Xbox 360's BT Vision-powered IPTV to be rubbish, apparently
That's rubbish compared to the existing BT Vision service already available to BT broadband customers - because you won't be able to watch or record live TV on Xbox 360.
"The reason for streaming only on the Xbox is because currently the console does not have the capability for live TV or enough hard drive for practical downloading of content" a BT spokesperson told the BBC, pretty much ending our excitement or interest in the whole Xbox 360 IPTV "scene."
So while Xbox 360 will let you stream/pause/rewind (and, of course, pay money for) all the pre-recorded movies, TV shows and sports events that BT Vision customers already have access to, it won't be able to do, well, the most important bit of it all - and something a cheap old BT Vision set-top-box can already do.
So, er, what's the point?
It's almost as if Microsoft and BT signed some sort of deal to do this ages ago, realised it was never really going to work, but still have to go through with it anyway because they went and promised everyone.
