Another round of Metal Gear Solid 4 360 rumours

showfileSnake.jpgMetal Gear Solid 4 will be making its way to the Xbox 360 12-14 months after its PS3 release, according to Xbox Family who claim to have word direct from an unnamed Konami distribution rep. Guess we should have seen this one coming, after all it’s been at least several months since we’ve seen a fanboy baiting rumour about MGS 4 going multiplatform.

Given that Metal Gear Solid 4 is pretty much the lynchpin for PS3 lineup of 2008, I’m sure we’ll see at least another few cycles of rumour and denial before the game comes out. To be honest, a one year lag in release for the 360 probably wouldn’t be too bad for Sony. 12 months is probably enough to lure most diehard MGS fanboys into splashing out on a PS3. Nevertheless, I’d be surprised if we didn’t see a 360 release in some form. The Metal Gear Solid series is big on rereleases- Metal Gear Solid: Integral, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. I’d say a feature packed multiformat re-release is pretty likely.

In a November interview with Reuters, Ryan Payton who is the assistant producer of the game said this when asked about exclusivity:

"We're telling our fans that if you want to play Metal Gear Solid 4, you have to buy a PS3. The PlayStation brand has always been good to us, and we're pretty bullish on the PS3."

Now that is pretty clear and its coming from a named source speaking on behalf of Konami to a worldwide respected news agency. To me that is slightly more credible than an unnamed (made up?) source speaking to 'some guy' on a website.

Think again dumbass xbox fans... "from an unnamed Konami distribution rep" - oh yeah THAT'S VERY RELIABLE!!! We have Ryan Payton and Hideo Kojima, the executive producers of Metal Gear Solid telling us that it's a PS3 exclusive. If Konami decides they would want it on xbox 360, then Hideo Kojima and Ryan Payton would happily resign from Konami and probably move to another publisher such as SCEA or Namco. That would be a humongous threat to Konami so there's no chance of ever seeing a 360 version of Metal Gear Solid. Why do you think Hideo Kojima never released Metal Gear Solid or Metal Gear Solid 3 on the xbox? Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance was a test on what the xbox can do, same with Metal Gear Solid: Digitally Reenhanced on the Gamecube. There are many clues on how much of a friend Kojima Productions is to Sony.

actually integral was an expansion pack as was the more recent MGS:PO+, id say with downloadable content as easy as it is to set up it is more likely to be the form of any future updates
