Gamers could graduate to 360 from Wii says Microsoft exec
Microsoft executive Jeff Bell doesn’t fear the massive success of the Wii. In fact, he’s sounding pretty glad- saying that he’s "thankful that the Wii has been able to open up a lot of people's minds that gaming is fun for everyone."
"We're positioning ourselves to be ready if, in fact, gamers find they're ready to graduate from a certain experience potentially with the Wii, either because it's limited on the type of gameplay that's available or the technology in that box."
Ahh, knew there had to be more to it. It’s not the first we’ve heard of the concept, but I have to admit I’m not entirely convinced. It’s going to be tough to translate some of the more casual market over the 360. Playing a game like Halo 3 is such a different experience to something like Wii sports.
Getting the hang of a demanding FPS like Halo, especially if you’re not used to using a 360 style controller. Like it or not, next-gen games have become specialised, demanding an awful lot of knowledge from the player. There’s no denying that the success of the Wii means a lot more people are playing games, but I still doubt whether many of them are going to make the jump to 360.

Go from a Wii to a 360? Okay, so we go from a small console to a huge one, motion control to no motion sensitivity whatsoever, free online gaming to having to pay for it, and from a console that has nearly unheard of failure rates to one that fails 33% of the time. Oh and it scratches discs too, did I miss anything? Okay so you get better graphics and a HDD but I don't think graduating from a Wii to a 360 would be a worth while graduation. It is like graduating as an engineer and then going to work at a Wal-Mart as a cashier.
