Epic man answers reader questions - but evades the interesting ones about Gears 2 and 360 Unreal Tournament 3

unreal-3-rein-interview-360.jpgEpic's Mark Rein has, as he seems to do almost daily, done another interview on the internet.

But he didn't respond when asked about Gears of War 2. Well, he did, but he said "What's that?" so is either suffering severe memory problems, didn't understand the question properly or is just not playing along.

He also said there was no set release date for the Xbox 360 version of Unreal Tournament 3 at the moment, but with the game hardly setting the PC or PS3 sales charts on fire it's unlikely many Xbox 360 owners are particularly bothered about when UT3 arrives. Seeing as everyone'll still be playing Call of Duty 4.

Elsewhere in The Guardian's reader Q&A - which Rein answered by creating a user name and responding to questions in the comments field of the first post! - he raved about UT3, funnily enough, waffled on about user-generated content (he likes it, as everyone has to say these days), says there's virtually zero chance of cross-platform play between PS3 and Xbox 360 and points out that we're never going to see a version of the UT3 model maker on console as that'd clearly be ridiculously hard to use.

He also answered the following awesome question - "Does the preposterously camp art direction of Gears of War and Unreal Tournament 3 represent what Epic's designers think looks 'cool'? What are you, twelve?" in a serious manner.

Well done, Mark. Bloody good work.

The Microsoft doesn't allow user generated content. Until they do I doubt epic will bother porting UT3 to the 360. And lets face the facts its hard for the 360 to run a game with that high of graphic quality at the needed speed. They could lower the shader and texture detail but then you start to sacrifice the look of the game.
