Video Marketplace coming to the UK on December 11 - 300 heads the HD download charge
Or, to give it its proper name, the Xbox LIVE Marketplace Video Store. From December 11 we'll be able to rent standard definition films for 250 points, or pay 380 points - about £3.20 - for a high-def download.
New-ish movies like 300 and The Good German stand out on the list of what'll be available on day one, but the rest of the launch list of films is decidedly old looking. The three Matrix films will be there for download, as will Lethal Weapon 3 & 4, Mars Attacks!, Superman III and some very peculiar other movies like Analyze This and Space Cowboys.
At least once it's all in place some better stuff might go up, eh?
The scheme, as in the USA, operates on a rental basis, where you pays your money to download the film, then have a few days to watch the movie before it deletes itself. There's no mention of TV programme downloads for the UK yet, sadly, so dreams of Lost Season 4 on demand in HD sadly remain distant.
