EA kept from the Christmas chart top spot by COD4

cod4-1650.jpgThough we've no particular grudge against EA, who have released some superb games this year, it's nice to see the newly formed Activion-Blizzard enjoying their success by taking the top spot on the 25th December; a space usually reserved for Need for Speed or FIFA.

As reported on MCV, Call of Duty 4's place at the top of the all-format charts marks the company's debut at the top of the festive chart. Assassins' Creed takes second place for Ubidays, meaning original IP has much to celebrate, while EA do take third, forth and fith place with The Simpson's game and the other usual suspects.

Here's that ChartTrack top ten in full, for your consideration. Let us know how you feel in the comment's section below.

1. Call of Duty 4 (Activision)
2. Assassin’s Creed (Ubisoft)
3. The Simpsons Game (EA)
4. FIFA 08 (EA)
5. Need for Speed: ProStreet (EA)
6. More Brain Training from Dr Kawashima (Nintendo)
7. WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008 (THQ)
8. Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training (Nintendo)
9. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Sega)
10. Wii Play (Nintendo)

The only single-format games in the the top 10 are Nintendo's ancient Brian Training games.

That means... something important, probably.
