Xbox Live user base breaks the 8 million mark – take that Sony and your rubbish PSN
Xbox Live is blooming brilliant. Alright a few major titles might have suffered from some dodgy online gaming in the latest few months – Halo 3 and its matchmaking flaws for example – but there’s no denying that it’s a cracking online service. And one that’s only going to get even better over time.
So it’s not too shocking to discover that Microsoft have been able to announce that the user base for the Live service now exceeds a huge 8 million users. And to celebrate, Microsoft are being all generous and giving us all a chance to download a copy of Carcassonne on November 15th as a gesture of thanks. Bless.
Apparently an extra bonus will be handed to those users who have stuck with Microsoft since the very beginning, with those who have been signed up since 2002 given a nice little bundle of 500 Microsoft Points to spend as they wish. Alright so it’s only worth a few quid, but it’s a nice little bonus for long time fans.
The only minus point is the lack of clarification how many of these 8 million are paying Gold members, and which are those cheap Silver users who don’t deserve to own an Xbox 360.
