Phantasy Star Universe expanded and overhauled in massive multiplayer Xbox Live update

phantasy-star-expansion.jpgPhantasy Star on Xbox 360 is what we'd charitably call a "cult hit" - meaning a few people play it. But those few people who do play it clock up at least 16 hours a day of obsessive RPG action.

Their loyalty is being repaid - and cashed in on - with the Ambition of the Illuminus expansion pack, which hits today. It's a gigantic download, weighing in at a ludicrous 1.92GB. But there's a good reason for its size. This is no mere expansion pack, it's a huge collection of new single and multiplayer missions, which totally overhauls the game mechanics and adds new items, character classes and mini games to boot.

Which is why it costs a rather intimidating 1600 points. That's nearly £19.

At least there's one rather good reason to get it now on Xbox 360 - PC and PS2 Phantasy Star Universe fans have to wait until next January to get their hands on the expansion.
