Wireless Guitar Hero III controllers finally available standalone
When Guitar Hero II on the Xbox 360 launched over here, we all got the opportunity to buy a second Gibson X-Plorer controller separately, to allow us to indulge in some multiplayer duals, stood back-against-back as we snarled on stage. With Guitar Hero III, we got lovely wireless controllers, meaning we could prowl and strut about our houses as we hit the plastic frets, but the guitars only came bundled with the game, so we could only do that free rnaging strutting solo.
Over on Gamespot UK, it has suddenly emerged that Activision have announced that they will make the wireless Les Paul and Kramer guitar controllers available on their own, with an apparent release in early 2008. A quick snoop over at HMV.com reveals a more accurate date of the 25th January 2008. Finally we can walk together and rock together, but it’s still odd that Activision didn’t do this sooner. Who knows, perhaps they had a few wired Guitar Hero controllers to get rid of? It's also disappointing to learn that the controllers are identical to the bundled ones, meaning the delay hasn't meant Activision and RedOctane have devised some new Flying-V or similarly iconic axe. Regardless of speculation, it’s certainly great news that the days of wired controllers tangling round the beer cans and ash trays that are an inevitable part of playing Guitar Hero are soon to be over for good.
