Rumour: Xbox 360 Unreal Tournament 3 quietly disappearing?

The mighty internet rumour mill has pumped out a particularly appropriate one for us this week: Unreal Tournament 3 won’t be coming to the Xbox 360. There are basically only two rather shaky reasons for this assumption: firstly, Epic has not bothered to post a picture of its Xbox 360 version box art on the website, and secondly someone noticed that during this interview with Mike Capps, President of Epic Games, he stated “we're just on PlayStation 3, so we get to focus on that platform.”

It's not really the most compelling set of speculation and sounds very much something that Mark Rein will shortly deny outright and have a fresh grumble about the negativity of internet folks. Knowing that Sony did secure itself a timed exclusive of the game, that pretty much explains why Epic would have been dedicating more of its time to the PS3 version this summer and why it hasn’t bothered revealing the 360 box art yet. The question that this does raise is quite how far behind the PC and PS3 versions the Xbox 360 version is going to be – sounds like more than just a month or two.

Update: As predicted Mark Rein has rubbished these rumours, stating "Absolutely untrue! 360 version still coming in 2008." But which quarter, I wonder?
