Mass Effect still exclusive to 360
With the recent news that Pandemic and BioWare have been bought by EA, gamers could be forgiven for wondering whether Mass Effect would arrive on the PS3 as well. Apparently not, according to a recent posting at Microsoft’s gamerscoreblog, stating that the game’s still exclusive and due for release on the 20th of November (23rd in Europe). However, this doesn’t exclude the possibility of the series going to other formats in the future.
Given that it’s running using Unreal Engine 3, porting it over to the PS3 definitely wouldn’t be impossible. If I had to guess, I’d say that if it’s a big hit, then there’s a good chance it’ll stay on the 360. Microsoft’s already shown its willingness to buy content it believes will help sell its consoles and the 360’s in need of a decent RPG. Should Mass Effect be the flagship 360 RPG that it has the potential to be, I think Microsoft will try to ensure its exclusivity. Still, these are early days.
