Xbox 360's success helps prop-up UK magazine sales
The twice-yearly ABC magazine circulation figures are out, showing just how far things have dropped off for PlayStation in the last six months.
The once mighty Official PlayStation2 Magazine saw a massive 55% drop in sales, what with the gradual decline of PS2 game releases and the console's sad move toward the primary school toy end of the market. Future decided against releasing figures for the Official PlayStation Magazine, which has been redesigned to feature a sole emphasis on PS3. We wonder why that could be?
Meanwhile, multi-format mags GamesMaster and Edge both lost 10% of their readership, thanks, no doubt, to the success of new single-format titles like Official Nintendo Magazine, which recorded a rocketing 34% increase and now sells an impressive 48k a month.
But it looks like the Official Xbox 360 Magazine is now the UK's biggest-selling games mag, finally ending the rampaging, decade-long success of Future's Official PlayStation magazines. Elsewhere in Xbox mag-land, Future's Xbox World boosted itself by 30%, Imagine's X360 made a 38% leap to 30k and even little Uncooked Media's 360 Gamer managed to rise 38% to 12.5k monthly sales.
And we laughed when all these Xbox 360 mags launched a couple of years ago...

I'm loyal to my monthly xbox world 360, x360 & 360-magazines.
Also MAD-magazine. But this has nothing to do with it.
