Soul Calibur IV to get instant-hit kills? If it's true, sounds like a good idea.

sc4_pub_ss_nightmare001.jpgSoul Calibur IV Lead Programmer Masaaki Hishino has revealed that the upcoming weapon brawler will include “…a gameplay element that will let you win that doesn't involve the health gauge,” whilst speaking to UK Official PlayStation Magazine. OPSM speculates that this could be a sign that instant kills are due for an appearance in the game.

I’m hoping that the rumour turns out to be true. While the graphics look fantastic, the gameplay we’ve seen so far seems to show characters going through the same moves that we’ve seen before in previous instalments. Catering for a hardcore beat ‘em up fanbase is all very well, but I’d still like to see a little innovation in the next instalment. Given Namco's skills at balancing the gameplay of their titles, I think they could make it work, hopefully adding tension to the game without leaving the door open to exploits.
