Microsoft getting cocky - claim EA 'know where their bread is buttered'

microsoft1.jpgSeems that Microsoft are starting to get a little big headed with sales of Xbox 360 consoles maintaining a hefty level, with Jeff Bell sounding more than a little cocky in a recent interview with Canada.com. One huge claim is the sheer strength of Microsoft’s ties with EA:

“In the case of EA, we just have an incredible partnership with them. Madden is not exclusive for us but they know where their bread is buttered. We will outsell the PS2 and PS3 version of Madden this Holiday Season combined.”

Certainly doesn’t sound like the shy retiring type to me. He even goes further stating (truthfully) that the only two major franchises that don’t appear on a Microsoft platform are Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid.

I’m certainly eager to hear Sony’s response. Let the battle commence!

In a way he has every right to be. I mean how many people expected Microsoft to come out this aggressive this time? The 360 has more exclusives and a large portfolio and with every single PS3 game being delayed I don't see them closing the gap. How many times are PS3 fans going to get jerked around? I seen a PS3 kiosk showing all of this CGI as if it was gameplay and started laughing my ass off. None of the PS3 games so far have lived up to the Hype, where did 4D go? I bet there where some pissed off fans when they bought Rainbow 6. I have the 360 version and it truly out classes the Sony version dispite the PS3's "huge potential". I had hope for LAIR but now with IGN and EGM claiming that it gets lame just like all the other Factor 5 games I think it is going to flop. Hell even Heavonly Sword is getting dumped on for being a single serving experience. Sony needs to realize that if your going to talk all this shit about bluray and what it brings to gaming you need to back it up. All the PS3 games say they are using all this space 22 gigs for this 25 gigs for that but the games aren't longer or better for it WTF. Why spend $200 dollars more when you could have bought a 360 with 4 games? Games like Madden 08, Gears of War, Bioshock, Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Rainbow 6, and the list goes on and on. Not to mention that you would get Live and have a headset so that you could talk while playing Multiplayer with your friends because you know they all have 360's anyway.

Kind of confirms what a lot suspected, the PS3 version might be harder to code right now, but EA aren't going to break their backs getting 60 fps for PS3 users. Why do that when Microsoft will likely pay you significant sums to make sure everything is perfect with the 360 version?

I'm a PS3 owner who doesn't hate 360's or their owners, just think the corporates are taking both groups for a ride. I'm likely to get a 360 in April next year, (was always going to) so in the end I won't be too upset either way.

Has this dimwit never heard of Gran Turismo? Its sold around 50m units and is only on the PS3.

BTW the 2 franchises he admits aren't on the 360 have shifted around 100m units between them. Also why would he be saying Metal Gear is a Sony exclusive if it's coming the the 360 like some would have us believe? Answer: Because it isn't.

Dan1581. So you cant see the PS3 closing the gap? Next Year the PS3 has Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo and Metal Gear being released. Can you name me one 360 exclusive being released next year as big as those games? No you cant because the only exclusive the 360 has that is on the scale of them is Halo. It will also have LittleBigPlanet, Home & the PlayStation Eye which all offer something that the 360 can't compete with at all.

Microsoft arent being cocky, they are in denial.

Beef Jerky
ok so lets say microsoft has nothing special or whatever next year. Well what did Sony have that was so special this year?? nothing...
so i guess this year was sonys bad year and next year is microsofts bad year.

Microsoft is not in denial they simply said that EA KNOWS WHERE THE $$$ IS, and right now it is with XBOX360 OR WII NOT THE PS3

you are in denial, Microsoft has a reason to talk shit, when your sony finally provides all that you are still hoping and wating for even after its almost out for a full year and sonys users are still hoping and waiting lol, well when sony catchs up then i think u can say microsoft is in denial, SONY HAS A VERY LONG WAY TO GO WITH PS3 STILL

PS2 WAS GREAT : )
psone & ps2 dominated
that does not automatically mean ps3 will dominate the way psone and ps2 did
