Leipzig Games Convention: Rock Band tracks announced, European localisation revealed
Ten new Rock Band tracks were unveiled today at Leipzig, bringing the total of announced songs to 26. Deep Purple, The Rolling Stones, Radiohead, Beastie Boys and Jet are just some of the bands that you can expect to hear when the game appears- full list of announced songs on the turn. Jeff Yapp of EVP, MTV Program Enterprises stated that Rock Band would be out in Europe in early 2008. You’ll also be glad to hear that European versions of Rock Band are getting localised music content for multiple territories, both on the disc and online. Is anyone else excited about the potential for Eurovision-inspired fun? Nope? Oh well.
With all the recent fuss over whether the Guitar Hero III’s tried and tested gameplay will prevail over Rock Band’s more diverse instrument set, it’s easy to forget how much of it rides on the available songs. Especially given that the publishers are no doubt hoping that the downloadable content turns out to be a lucrative extra, it’s imperative that the music store’s got a good selection and simply works well.
