Germany has fallen :(
Freshly released sales figures for the German market show that Wii has overtaken Xbox 360 as the country's most popular games machine. There will be an official two minute silence held around Europe at 2.00pm today.
The lifetime German Wii total now stands at 291,000, compared to Xbox 360's 281,000.
However, there's still some good news for you all to post in various forums and comments sections across the web today - both consoles are creaming PS3, which has only installed itself in the homes of 99,500 discerning German gamers.

Yaaay Nintendo!! I'll be interested to see their sales figures when those AAA titles kick in by the end of the year. Woop whoop whoop!

Ummm, the idea that the PS3 will be victor in the Next Gen Console wars is outdated and has lost the wind in its sails. Use some common every day math and stop dreaming. 99,000 units in just under a year doubled is still around 200,000 units and is way under the 281,000 that Xbox has done in the extra year. Face it, things run slower on the PS3, don't look any better, take longer to develop for. The PS3 has way less games available for it, the games that are available are lower in quality except for a small handful, hardly any exclusives are left and the darn system costs more to buy and for what? Oh, but you have Blu-Ray which I'll admit will most likely win the the HD movie format but as a gamer I couldn't care less about that. I don't own one single DVD and find that most gamers don't either.

The only reason the 360 has sold more than the PS3 is because its been on sale longer. The PS3 will overtake the 360 in worldwide sales by the end of 2008.
