Surprise Bioshock announcement on way

xdack-image46.jpgBioShock’s due for another trailer outing, this time on Spike TV, on Sunday at 9PM Eastern time in the US. But wait! According to Kotaku, 2K games has stated that “the trailer debut will close with a surprise announcement by Game Head's Geoff Keighley.” The internet being the fast-turning rumour-mill that it is, we’ve already seen speculation that this is a precursor to a PS3 release announcement. CVG, however, has recently posted an update stating that “a reliable source” has said that the console version of the shooter will get downloadable plasmids, the injections that you use in the game to give yourself special powers.

Given that it's been previously firmly stated that this an Xbox 360/Windows game only, I'd be surprised if it made the transition over to PS3. The downloadable plasmids sounds like a reasonable bet, but I don't know if I'd describe it as a "surprise announcement." Still, I guess we'll get to find out soon. Injecting to give yourself special abilities and being given the choice to kill little girls and harvest their DNA. I can almost see the Daily Mail headlines right now…
