WETA's real Warthog

Remember that short live-action Halo flick from the Microsoft E3 keynote? Well the WAarthog you saw rolling off the production line was real (as you can see from the pic). Plus it’s not some stationary soulless model either, this Warthog is a “fully-functioning, four-wheel steering, powerful, off-road vehicle”. Bet it isn’t grenade proof.

That is a machine-gun on the back too. I’m not completely convinced that’s working though. I suppose the important question is whether the traffic cop would believe it is real or not.

Residents of New Zealand might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of this drifting across the countryside around the WETA film and television effects workshop located in Wellington. The rest of us will just have to make do with keeping an eye out for the rest of Neill Blomkamp’s shorts, of which E3’s ‘Arms Race’ clip was just the first of many (which come with some enlightening narrative, we’re promised).
