Resident Evil 5 heads to Africa

residentevil5.jpgJapanese magazine Famitsu has an exclusive on the new Resident Evil game this week, and thanks to the wonderful internet the details are all over the web today.

Resident Evil 5 is set in a small African village, looking quite similar to the set of Black Hawk Down - a film the game's producer Jun Takeuchi openly quotes as a big influence.

Famitsu also confirms the identity of the lead character - it is original Resident Evil star Chris Redfield, plus we're told RE5's set ten years after the events of the original, so we'll get a good look at what Chris has been up to. And some of those ludicrously loose RE plot ends should be tied up.

Worryingly, Famitsu seems to think the game might not appear until 2009, though. Gamesradar has got a ton of grabs from the latest teaser trailer here, but by looking at them you're just making the wait harder on yourself.
