Crysis heading to Xbox 360 and PS3? 'Theoretically' says Crytek CEO

There have been rumours floating around for a while, now Crytek CEO, Cevat Yerli, has fanned the flames of speculation stating that "Theoretically, anything could run anywhere, [...] Crysis could be on the 360 or PS3".

Crysis, the spiritual successor to hit PC FPS, Far Cry, is shaping up to be a big hit for PC gamers and an important landmark for DirectX 10 gaming, which itself has been coming under close scrutiny in the past few weeks. Obviously, it would be very nice if console gamers were to be given a shot at the action too – mainly because it’s a fair bit cheaper to get hold of a next-gen console than a DirectX 10-capable PC gaming rig.

Yerli is quick to add a caveat to his statement. “Don't go singing 'Crysis on console' from the rooftops just yet" he says, adding that there aren’t any concrete plans to for an Xbox 360 or PS3 version yet. “It's a matter of how far we can take each platform" he concludes. At the very least, this hopefully means there won’t be a repeat of the sub-par adaptations of Far Cry that were all console players got to experience of the excellent PC original.
