Eidos reveals new Deus Ex title in the making

Director of Eidos France, Patrick Melchior, has let slip that there is a new Deus Ex title currently being made and we can expect to hear further details in the next few months. I’m of a very mixed opinion about this. Deus Ex is, and has been widely heralded as, one of the best games of all time. Its follow up, Deus Ex: Invisible War, basically destroyed all the hard work of the original and provided a best possible example of why some games just don’t need a sequel.

Developer Ion Storm closed shop a couple of years ago, by which time Deus Ex’s creator Warren Spector had already left to begin work on another project with his new company, Junction Point Studios. The first blow to a proposed third iteration is that the man behind it all will not be involved – bad start. However, good sequels have been made without the original brains being behind them, but with the popularity of good quality remakes beginning to pick up, I wonder if a simple refresh of the original title might suit the franchise better?

There’s no word on release date or even what platform I might appear on. PC seems to be an obvious start and then an Xbox 360 port wouldn’t be hard to imagine either. Read via IGN
